NYTimes Op-Ed: Faults and Repairs for University System

Today, the New York Times published an op-ed by Mark C. Taylor, chairman of the religion department at Columbia University, titled The End of the University as We Know It on the necessary restructuring of the university.

If American higher education is to thrive in the 21st century, colleges and universities, like Wall Street and Detroit, must be rigorously regulated and completely restructured.

For now, I’ll finish my MFA and wait for this restructuring before I consider a Ph.D.

    I was reading these articles recently and found it strange how this idea is now in the NYTimes.

    I know I can say that graduate school was good for me at the time, not only to help delay the real world but also just good for the mind and soul, but I’m one of those weirdos who went to college for enlightenment (I believe you are, too).
